Not being a widow myself, I read this book with the goal of learning to be a better help to those I know who have become widows. This book is an excellent source of encouragement spiritually and contains many practical helps. I highly recommend it to those who have become widows.

Bought this for a friend who lost her husband a couple of weeks ago. I loved that it was short, sweet, super informative, but most importantly, comforting and hopeful. I absolutely recommend this book.

Beautiful book. Just right for the new widow: skinny book, big print, full of scripture and encouragement. This is a book that can be read and absorbed even when in the "fog" of early widowhood that the author describes. I have given copies of this book as gifts and they have been appreciated.

I have been a widow for a little over a year. The walk is not easy. The emptiness is so sad. I miss my husband terribly. Only a woman who has gone through this loss, could write on pages what I feel in my heart.Dr. Adrian Rogers blessed us for many years with his Word from God. He comforted our soul in times of health, wealth, loss, etc., whatever came our way. His wife too finds the words that ring true to this valley of loneliness from death. Appreciate her words of comfort and truth as to times ahead. Our God is good. He makes no mistakes. He supplies words of wisdom for those that will reach out and take them. I am indebted to Mrs. Rogers.

This book was okay but did not cover most of the concerns and reactions of recent widowhood... I will not purchase additional copies of this book to share. It would not have met my emotional needs or explained how to cope with so many issues. God got me through.. He sent a different book along.

I tried a lot of secular books but they just didn't do it for me. If one already knows the creator of the universe, then the only thing that really helps is something based on His word and infinite love.

The author writes in convoluted repetitions making what could be a truly fascinating journey into the culinary arts of Bali into a rather boring mess. Having lived in Bali, in the villages, in a family home for two years, I found her book lacking in many respects. She forgets that the chicken and meat she buys in the store in a package has to be slaughtered before it makes it to her table. In Bali, the modern luxury of picking up a package in the supermarket does not exist and people do kill the chickens and meat by themselves. At least they always perform this with honor and prayers in a loving manner. I was really sadly disappointed in this book.

I don't know if I'd necessarily call this a cookbook. It's as much a book on the history and culture of Bali as it is about cooking. There is not a huge number of recipes in this book and, let's be frank, some are more about the culture than what a lot of us would consider cooking--Fried Dragonflies or "Holy Water" anyone? Other recipes are quite delightful such as Mixed Rice, or Grilled Ground Chicken in Balinese Spicy Sauce with Fresh Shredded Coconut and even Banana Fritters.This is a fascinating read on Balinese culture and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in or planning on traveling to Bali. If you're just looking for Balinese food, it may or may not be right for you. There are almost no photos of the dishes, and that is very important to me when I'm trying to cook a totally unfamiliar cuisine. I like to be able to see what it's supposed to look like when I'm finished. Some of the recipes aren't as clear as I'd like, either. One recipe says to grill then young coconut for 5 minutes and then chop into cube sized pieces. Young coconut isn't something I typically cook with so I'm a little stumped. Do you grill it whole? Do you cut it in half and grill it? It's not very clear. There are multiple unfamiliar and hard to find ingredients as well, though there is a resource guide in the back of the book for places to buy Indonesian ingredients.Overall, while this is a fascinating book, it's probably not one I'll be going back to very often.I received a copy of this book from Tuttle Publishing for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have to declare an interest, as I contributed eleven of the forty-seven recipes, and my daughter, Morny, contributed one, but despite this, and not because of it, I can highly recommend this book.It is a fast-paced delight to read and will transport you to a fascinating, magical island, my home, rich in history, rituals, and food. I love this show. My son was in the Ringling Brothers Circus, and I have always loved that circus. It is an upbeat musical, well played, danced and sung. I ordered the music because many of my vocal and piano students wanted to play some songs from there. I first got the regular one then went back for the Easy play, which is still somewhat difficult for younger students. I highly recommend this one as "the Easy Play" book.

It’s not just the vocal line. It’s the full music. Vocal line has its own staff & then the accompaniment is it’s own set too! Exactly what I wanted. Everything is in the same key as the movie too.

This is about an intermediate level.My early intermediate piano kids are doing ok with the easiest song (A Million Dreams). But most others are too much of a challenge right now.(They are in Schaum orange book or piano adventures level 3, for reference.)I like the arrangements and can play the unfamiliar chords and tricky rhythms with practice.I do wish I had bought the easy piano version instead of this one so they could almost sight read for fun.

The Music is amazing and the piano part doesn't just follow the vocal line- which is a main reason for the 5 stars!

Wish they didn’t have full page copyright notices. I purchased the dang book, shouldn’t have to swipe two whole pages while performing...

Excellent for medium to advanced players. It's difficult to sing and play at the same time, the way the music is written, but you can pick it out at you go along.

Love this movie and all the music. Great book. Has All the songs.

Great book for the mediocre pianist. Some arrangements are more difficult than others. But all in all a fun book from an awesome movie. My daughter can play the songs easily and her son will grow into it as he continues his lessons.

S.K. explains the reason why he didnt die immediately, and then he poofed. Steve and Bob went to check the doorway and found that there wasnt anything. yasssssz finally the new book came out i just finished reading the other 39 books a few monts ago. this one was so amazing tho so you know its gotta be five stared.anyway i wanna let everyone red it for themself like seriously you should.i have some ideas to sharewhen steve gets back nobody is letting him into the fortress.devlin is starting to act all weird around stevealex is starting to open up more to steveand last but not least the enderdragon comes to the overworld with all the other bosses.also if you dont like theseries dont write a very disrespectful comment like dont tell everyone how much you hate something its just bad karma.anyway this is paperpando over and out

on page loc 133 they say that they have too much MINED stone which should be cobblestone but u need to burn cobble to be able to get stone so i think thats wrong

About the Author

Johnny Gruelle (1880-1938) was an extremely talented cartoonist, illustrator, and storyteller. He had already written and illustrated a book of original fairy tales before creating the first two Raggedy books, Raggedy Ann Stories and Raggedy Andy Stories. Raggedy Ann, heroine of the first, was the favorite doll of his daughter, Marcella, who died at the age of thirteen after a long illness. It was from Marcella that Johnny drew the inspiration to eventually create more than forty Raggedy Ann and Andy books, all capturing his unique vision of childhood. Many of the stories, illustrations, and adventures in the Raggedy Ann storybooks were based on Marcella's childhood adventures. Raggedy Ann's Lucky Pennies has become one of Johnny's most treasured adventure storybooks.

These were the stories my Dad read to me as a kid. They ought to be available to a new generation of children via all the major B&M bookstores. But as someone who once worked in a bookstore for five years in college back in the '90s, I observed even then that these works were never stocked. As a result, too few children are exposed to Johnny Gruelle's timeless classics. These are incredibly imaginative and whimsical stories, with illustrations completely unlike anything produced by anyone else (meaning much better than most children's illustrators/cartoonists' today). But more than that, these books convey values of kindliness, compassion and the Golden Rule. Every children's librarian should stock Gruelle's books and every major bookstore should carry at least some of of these classics. Back in the '70s and even into the mid '80s the dolls were ubiquitous. By the '90s, however, the dolls and the stories seemed to fall off the map. It would seem that because Disney never gained control of these classic characters, they have fallen out of the mainstream. That's a real shame and I wish the Gruelle estate/hometown would work harder to publicize these works to a new generation.

I loved these stories as a child and wanted to share with the next generation. In good shape and exactly as promised

My Mother read this to me and we read almost all of the series and I looked forward to story time and the gentler stories of several years ago.

Raggedy Ann's Lucky Pennies is a lovely story of how a rag doll found a penny growing on a tree, that brought good luck. It did not seem that way at first, as Raggedy Ann and Andy, with q young man who had been mnade to forget that he was the prince who ruled that territory, and another young man transformed into a donkey named Noodles, were captured by King Growch, who was NOT the rightful ruler but the former commanding general of the prince's army. Yet that Lucky Penny helped the lost prince regain his memory, reminded him that he was the beloved Prince Bonnie, the rightful sovereign. That Penny helped a knight who had been discharged remember that he was king (and Mrs. Knight his consort)of a nearby kingdom, that Growch's scullery maid Lovey Lou was their Princess, AND that Winnie-the-Witch was NOT so wickedy but really Princess Winnie! (Another witch named Sylvia, alias, Wanda-the-Witch, was pretty and very nice, freed Noodles from his transformation and revealed him as Prince Donald, heir apparent to the knight-king's throne.) One of the most amusing parts of this story was Winnie's having Raggedy Ann and her friends bring back some gifts for the mean king-- a pint of water carried by a string, a tissue paper filled with fire, a giant in a bottle, and a pie that would sing when cut. Winnie, the SUPPOSEDLY Wickedy Witch who was really a NICE lady, brought back silly common things: an ice cube on the string and four fireflies in the tissue. Growch suspected that the giant in the bottle was another silly common thing that he should have thought of himself, and the singing pie was not mentioned. When, at the end, the mean king broke the tiny bottle on a rock, there was explosion, which killed him. (Was the "giant" really a grenade?) It would have been more fun if the king DID cut the pie; if it sang, it would have been just a battery-powered record player! Another silly common thing! Yet, it was this "giant" as well as the Lucky Penny that led to the death of the false king and the restoration of Prince Bonnie to his throne, which brought happiness to his subjects, AND restored the former knight to HIS throne in the nearby kingdom. All in all, a very nice story.

This is by far my favorite Raggedy Ann story. Funny, exciting, and sweet as always. My 3-year-old daughter asks me to read to her from it so often that we have finished the book four times!
