My 4-year-old loves racing cars and book. I thought this was going to be the perfect combination. It was not. Read it couple of times and thats it

perfect for my entry readers (1st grade).

My 10yr.old friends son loved it

We read this story every night! My son has it memorized and I list to him reciting it to himself at night while he is going to sleep. Very simple, very cute story or any little race fan!

Those cars look cool but there needs to be more words on the book and a little bit more pictures.

My grandson loved this book. He can already read, but loves race cars, so it was a big hit!

This book is great. Race Day explains the essence of a race in a way that puts the child front and center in the action. The seemingly simplistic approach allows for the child to participate and be an active and engaged reader, rather than a passive listener.On top of the fun story, the information is accurate and the pictures are actual photographs from a U.S race.Also! The inside of the book's back cover has a great little hand-game with cute lyrics about the race track, which the kids can learn and then play amongst themselves or with a parent! It's a smart and entertaining way to reinforce and highlight the story.

I use this in therapy and kids are very excited when it comes time to unfold, and extremely pleased when they see their finished products. There are 4 levels of difficulty with several different types of folds, such as snowflake, spider, heart, and butterfly. Each different type of fold has a card stock instruction card to show how it is done. You will need a good pair of sharp scissors, an exacto or other type of sharp knife for cutting out small, detailed areas, and a round punch is very helpful. The box is thick, the lid is hinged, and it is holding up extremely well for me. So glad to have stumbled on to this product. I will be searching it out each year from now on.

If you have never cut kirigami, this is the perfect way to start. I have collected the Day-to-Day Calendars for years, and still use some designs from 2009! The box has a nifty way of staying open so you can easily see directions. Each year has slightly different colors, and 2013 is no exception. This one includes many 2 sheet butterfly patterns, and 2 or more sheet flowers. For the different layers, they even coordinated the colors so you have light and dark to compliment your flower kirigami folds. The directions for each style of base fold has it's own sturdy card to look at again and again. An excellent way to start kirigami, or to continue in your kirigami efforts.

It's pretty much what it says it is. Folding and cutting. Days (i.e. patterns) are printed on origami style paper. If you like making snowflakes (so far that's it) or just like playing with paper this is a good buy. **Problems: The very first pattern to cut out is completely wrong. Don't expect it to work. (Another reviewer mentioned putting the correct pattern up. I'm not very tech savvy, but essentially the pattern on the right side of your finished fold should be on the bottom of the folded form, on a diagonal line above the folded flaps.) Also a quick thumb through the upper right corner of the page show that not all the fold lines are lined up right. Most (not all) of the designs have a diagonal fold line from lower left to upper right. If that line doesn't go corner to corner, expect the pattern to be slightly off.

I love Kirigami. Although I haven't finished the year because there are so many and I can't do them every day. I wish that the patterns were separate than the paper though so that I could keep the ones that I really like for future use. I do try to copy them, but that pushes back my creations even more.

This Kirigami Calendar is the greatest gift ever! It is a daily calendar. Then the next day, you take the sheet from the day before and follow the Kirigami directions. Our daughter has a stack of the most beautiful paper cut-outs we've ever seen. And she has no prior experience with Kirigami. What a great way for a little hands-on craft every day! Does the mind a good turn!

I love desk calendars. I choose a different type each year. You do a simple craft each day. I do origami and wanted to learn kirigami. I would recommend this for elementary ages to senior citizens. Instructions are easy to understand, paper quality is good for folding and cutting. I'd like to keep every kirigami but don't know how I would display all of them.

This calendar is a great way to learn the basics of kirigami. It provides simple instructions and gradually builds up to more advanced cutting. I just wished there was a place to download the patterns for later use!

I take a few minutes each morning to cut my kirigami for the day. It is a nice pause before plunging into work. I have not looked ahead, but I usually enjoy Jeff Cole's patterns, so I have high hopes for this year.

Audible Review: I did a re-listen when I bought the audible companion. I still stand on my review below and I think everyone will enjoy this narrator. I had no issues distinguishing between characters. I would buy more audibles with her as a narrator.Story Review: This series is going into my list of top favorites. The way this story unfolded with all the crazy actions of these equally crazy people just had me completely hooked. I enjoyed trying to figure out truth from all the secrets, lies and sabotage. Plus, there were so many side characters that added life to this story.While I thought Alayna was way too needy, I still rooted for her. Her neediness was a huge part of the plot and why things went down the way they did. Despite the fact that I probably shouldn't have liked Hudson for his past, I actually loved him! I'm really looking forward to reading his book to get his POV. There were so many times when I wasn't sure of what was real when it came to him.Celia is the one side character that deserves honorable mention. I predicted I wanted to shove her off a cliff in the first book and that still stands. Wow, what a conniving woman! Normally I hate other women drama, but I think this author did her part extremely well and it's obvious, her role is very necessary to the overall plot.I highly recommend this series. Just be ready to go on a ride!

Layne would not leave it alone. I just knew she was going to mentioned Hudson's mother, she can be too much at times. She is also a bit simplistic, especially when Hudson declares his love in the only way he could at the time, and for her not to see it! I was so sick of Layne constant manipulative childish crying, it was exhausting as a reader. Hudson, did everything to show how much he loved her and yet she was obsessed in wanting to hear it in so many words, such a winer. I was getting so sick of her insecurities. I love Mira's curiosity and insights. Also, the dirty old man, Jack. Most say that Hudson was the only reason why I kept reading this series. He literally turns me on! There were some ugly characters in this book, Celia and of course Gwen came across as too aggressive and boarder line antagonistic at first.

Working on trusting one another seems to be paying off in spades for Hudson and Alayna. To ensure that their relationship continues to grow in a healthy manner, both must surrender to themselves and to one another, becoming utterly transparent and honest with one another.Laying all of their cards on the table has left both, Hudson and Alayna, in positions they have never faced before. They are now completely vulnerable to one another, leaving their guard down to all of those who surround them.While this newfound vulnerability seems to be bringing them closer, it also has allowed for outside influences to seek their opportunity to break the happy couple up once and for all.So, it comes as a bit of a surprise, with this fresh honesty and openness, which some old demons from the past come out of hiding. The truth becomes diluted and no one, even our once happy couple, seems to know where the real story begins or ends.Hudson and Alayna must sort out the truths amongst the stories being spewed; or risk losing their shot at real love. I highly recommend that you read this novel, if you too, happen to be a fan of the complexities that make up the relationship between Hudson and Alayna. You will gain new insight and continue to be drawn in, for another spectacular journey, with characters that are unlike any that I have read before.

I stumbled onto this author and the first book of this series, Fixed On You, and downloaded a sample to give it a try. Well... needless to say, the sample lead to the first book being purchased, and then the second, Found in You, and finally, the third in the series, Forever In You. There is just something about these books that hooks you in and keeps you guessing throughout the entire series. There is emotion, angst, sex, love, hate, suspense... twists and turns in Hudson and Laynie's relationship so much so that you can't seem to put it down. I read all three books in succession and am glad I did, not sure the impact of the books would have been the same if there were long waits in between each one. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, the author threw in a curve ball that would take you by surprise and keep you glued to the pages. Both Hudson and Laynie have their own issues to deal with and this is a story of two people coming together against odds against them to heal each other and make each other better. It's a steamy, emotional ride and one awesome story! Looking forward to Chandler's book and definitely more from this new favored author!

This book is very well written. As a statistician in pharma industry, in my opinion, this is a very good introduction book for clinical trial stat.

The author are very accomplished statisticians with many years of clinical trial experience and research. DeMets along with Gordon Lan is famous for the alpha spending function approach that allowed added flexibility to group sequential trials. In addition to authoring several chapters of the book, Cook and Demets edited the book and invited other prominent researchers to contribute to the chapters. The other contributors are Robin Bechhofer, T. Charles Casper, Richard Chappell, Jens Eickhoff, Jan Feyzi, Marian Fisher, Kyungmann Kim, Rebecca Koscik, Mary Lindstrom, and Ellen Roecker.The book covers a wide variety of topics and starts from the basics. But although some people equate introductory in a title to mean elementary that would be a wrong conclusion in this case. Many of the topics are advanced and involve state-of-the-art methodology. The area of adaptive designs is, for example, a very hot topic these days and is the subject of a great deal of research.The chapters are very well written and include most of the crucial topics that come up in trial design and development. For example, in the first chapter randomization is discussed in detail as are issues of trial organization, ethical issues, the reasons why randomized clinical trials are important and some regulatory issues.Chapter 2 covers problem definition, composite outcomes and the use of surrogate endpoints. Chapter 3 covers trial design for all phases of clinical trials and includes sections on early phase trials, phase III trials and the phase IV postmarketing trials. Methodology includes non-inferiority, screening , prevention, therapeutic and adaptive designs.Chapter 4 deals with the important issue of sample size determination primarily using frequentist approaches. This chapter includes the sticky issues of how to deal with clustered data, survival data and censoring due to loss to follow-up and non-adherence to the protocol.This is followed by complete chapters on randomization including response-adaptive randomization, data collection and data quality control, survival analysis. longitudinal data, quality of life data and instrument development, data monitoring and interim analysis, a chapter dealing with missing data, subgroup analysis, multiple testing and ways to avoid bias. The final chapter deals with the very important practical issues on how to close out a trial and prepare and report results.I like this book both as a possible introductory text and as a reference for clinical trial statisticians. The appendix provide sophisticated methods of inference including Brownian motion, information theory, asymptotic theory and the delta method.My only criticism of the book is lack of discussion of software. Statistical software pakages are crucial to the analysis of clinical trials with SAS being the most frequently used. Also there are now a number of fine packages for sample size determiniation and the design of group sequential trials. In this regard Demets and Lan have their own software product and Cytel has East which is now entering the area of adaptive trial design as is AddPlan by Wassmer and the software package produced by Mark Chang. So for a practical text on clinical trials the absence of coverage of the available software along with recommendations of what to use and how to use it is the one glaring omission of the book.I especially recommend this book because from the methodologic viewpoint there is no other book with more depth or broader coverage. Longitudinal analysis and repeated measure designs are very important in clinical trials but are not often covered in introductory biostatistics courses. Chapter 8 covers random effects models, population-average, and subject-specific models and various sophisticated estimation techniques including restricted maximum likelihood estimation, two-stage estimation and generalized estimating equations.

A wonderful resource for anyone working in clinical trials.

It may have been an introduction, but I did not find it to be elementary. I was hired at a new job and first introduced to clinical trials. I got this book hoping it would help me out. I am sure it has a good information, but it was a lot of information and most of it went over my head. I wish they would have given more formulas for sample size calculations rather than theoretical discussions. The book is too wordy--meaning there is a lot of text with very few formulas or workable examples.Overall, it is a pretty good book, but I would not recommend it if you have little or no background in clinical trials (even though it says "introduction" in the title). It does have good topics to get you thinking, but you might have to find other sources to really understand the material.

Though this might make for a fairly biased review as I had an extremely slow and boring professor, I found this book to be very enjoyable and clear in its presentation.

I am a Roman Catholic priest in good standing in my archdiocese, and with the permission of the archbishop, I work in the exorcism ministry. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Blai's book for all priests and ministers, and for all who wish to learn more about the subject. I can confirm that Mr. Blai is a legitimate peritus (advisor) to the bishop of his diocese, that he is highly experienced, and that he has permission to teach Catholic clergy on this subject. In western culture, an unhealthy mystique surrounds the subject of exorcism, due largely to two factors: an unwillingness of many Christians to ask questions about the subject for fear of ridicule--much less do they seek help from their clergy if they believe that they have a problem--and the tendency of books and films to focus on the most sensational and dramatic aspects of the ministry, with the result that the prayerful, pastoral, and subdued elements of the ministry get overlooked. Mr. Blai provides sober, restrained, and practical advice for those who suspect the existence of supernatural phenomena in their homes, as well as for those who believe they they or someone they love is being harassed by spiritual forces. But he also reminds readers that liberation from such realities is rarely the "quick fix" that people often want or expect. God wishes it to be a holistic process that attends as much to a person's spiritual, emotional, and psychological health. Or to put that another way: God permits people to experience such realities in order to affect a conversion in their lives, and to invite them to deeper holiness and prayer. Such a process takes time. For readers unfamiliar with the subject of exorcism, much of what Mr. Blai has to say will sound shocking and bizarre. But as anyone who has visited a modern art museum knows, it can be tempting to reject or ridicule that which one does not understand. If one is going to listen to what exorcists have to say, one must be prepared to hear things that will challenge his or her worldview. If I had read Mr. Blai's book before becoming involved in this ministry, I have no doubt that I would have dismissed much of it. But what he writes is accurate, and based on the experience of innumerable exorcists from around the world. For the last four years, Pope Francis has endeavored to rehabilitate the exorcism ministry in the Catholic Church. Unlike his other themes of mercy and reconciliation, this particular plea has fallen largely on deaf ears. I hope that Mr. Blai's book brings some guidance and comfort to many people, and that it stimulates a much-needed open conversation on this subject among the Christian faithful.

This book is written by Adam Blai, a clinical psychologist and peritus of the Roman Catholic Church in exorcism. The various classifications of demonic activity are covered (e.g. infestation, oppression, and possession) along with human spirit hauntings. The author’s personal journey into this vital ministry is also covered.Mr. Blai is in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Penn State University.

Adam Blai has done more than any one individual to help and assist those priests who have been assigned to the incredibly difficult ministry of exorcist. His experience in the ministry is vast. Having worked with the last generation of exorcists, learning from their experience and knowledge, in his sharing of this knowledge he has been key in training the next generation of exorcists and deliverance ministers in this country as well as informing the laity of the dangers involved in dabbling with the occult world. Easy to read and clear in it's message, this is one book which should be on anyones shelf who is working in the ministry of spiritual combat.

In these kind of topics, one must focus on the Light: our Lord Jesus Chris, and that’s precisely what this book is all about.This book is factual and barely touches on possessed phenomena (only on the last chapter/few pages).This is a book that explains what might lead to the different stages of possession, the impact of sin, along with incorrect ideas that deviate from the Truth. It highlights the importance of a strong spiritual life and surrendering it to Jesus Christ.Very glad I purchased. Hope you find this book as interesting as I did.

Well written, very factual and informative. All people who love God should read this book. These creatures do exist and lest you be tormented unawares, follow the suggestions for holy living. I did, and after 37 years of demonic oppression, I am rarely troubled because my one defense is Jesus, obedience to God and not forgetting we are in a war. Thank you Mr. Blai.
