As someone who has also dealt with chronic illness, I could relate to all the ups and downs & hopes and crashing despair that Amy captures with crystal clear clarity and honesty. After reading this book, you will see Amy as such as amazing warrior. She gives anyone dealing with chronic illness hope that the answers to heal your body lie within. I only wish Amy had shared more of: a) how long it took to heal her body b) how she realized what stuck and unprocessed emotions to clear. Other than that, an absolute must read! One of THE best books chronicling the long dark journey into the depths of chronic illness (and how to find the light).
I always get samples of Kindle books before I buy them. I almost didn’t want to love this book because it cost more than I normally pay for a Kindle book. Once I read the sample, I “had†to buy the complete book. The writing is beautiful, poignant, and honest. As someone who has “invisible “ chronic illnesses, I was very interested in her journey. Read this in two days and couldn’t put it down. Great job, Amy!
This inspiring book takes the reader on the author’s real-life, courageous journey of healing. It’s written in language that is heartfelt and honest, touching and funny. I felt like I was right there with her through her whole journey. Sometimes I laughed out loud at her humorous way of looking at things and sometimes I cried. I could relate to her hopes, fears, and willingness to try anything to heal, not knowing yet that she would get so much more than she ever dreamed. Amy becomes the real hero of her own life and healing journey and she inspires me to want to do the same in mine. What an amazing book! Each chapter is as compelling as the last and it's hard to put the book down. This author is so talented, as well as down to earth, compassionate and full of life and laughter. I have read her best-selling book How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can and she is also very sincere about helping other people in their healing journeys. Don’t miss out on this AWESOME memoir from Amy B. Scher...REALLY!!
This is a terrific read, both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Who knew reading about chronic illness could be so entertaining? But, truthfully, this book is about so much more than a health journey. It truly is a meditation on living, loving, and humanity's ongoing struggle with control in a world where so much is out of our hands. A must-read for anyone suffering from any chronic health condition or looking for a refreshing shift in perspective!
Scher's book is inspiring, engrossing, and a wonderful read. As someone who has dealt with invisible illness for a long time, I related to so much of her story. The travel aspect also provides the armchair reader with an in-depth look at living in Delhi, which I found fascinating as well. Highly recommended.
Amy’s authenticity and courage are so inspiring!! Her first book, How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can, was such a godsend to me and opened up my mind and heart to a whole new way of healing. I found myself wanting to know more about her experience in India because I have been to India and experienced the chaos and the beauty. So to read this book was such a joy. What a courageous person she was to throw herself so fully into the unknown. She artfully shares here experience with all the ups and downs both physically and emotionally. Her amazing sense of humor shines through even in the most difficult times. This is book is so well written and engaging that I just couldn’t put it down. Many thanks to Amy for her open heart, bravery, and for inspiring others to look at healing from an entirely different perspective. What a gift this is!!
