I bought this book for my grandson as his first copy is wearing out from use. But, this copy is the updated version and is a bit different from the one he currently uses. It still is a nice book, but the wording is different. I was a bit surprised at this, but he still likes it and it is his favorite book. I love the board pages as they do not wear out like his other books and the pages cannot be torn or bent. A great little book for a little one!!
We will read this book occasionally as part of our nighttime routine, but it has never become a favorite. It rhymes, but sometimes awkwardly, and the drawings are not as engaging or cute as other books. There are large decorated boarders around the illustrations, which for my young son (1 year old) is not as engaging as simple larger pictures.It is a sweet message which as my child gets older I will appropriate.
I bought this book when I had my first child and I read it to her every single night. I am now doing the same with my second. Its so beautifully written, without the typical child-like writing, but also without sounding too "grown up". I love the message that it sends about night being a time for peaceful rest, the moon and stars being your friends to keep you safe, and that mom is just steps away if you need me. The illustration is soft and beautiful. Love love love this book, always give it as a gift now at baby showers and I know this will be one that makes me cherish the memories of reading it to my little ones.

Have this book memorized. Son is 9 years old now so I don't read it to him anymore, but I used to read it Every Single Night. Sometimes I'll still pull it off the shelves and read it to him for nostalgia. Bought this copy for a friend with a new baby. Asked my son to inscribe it too. So cute.
Love love love this book. Beautiful pictures with sing songy lyrics that read like a lullaby. My husband reads it and I always sing it to the kids. Then we end with "night night, daddy;night night, daddy;night night daddy (kiss); it's time to go to sleep" and we do that for everyone in the family. I love to give this book as a gift at baby showers as well because it's a little obscure in comparison to good night moon (which we love but is very common).
This book has become one of my daughters favorite books and is in our nightly rotation. She enjoys turning the pages and looking at pictures.Has a nice theme of the night becoming a friend and that it is a good thing.
I can't speak for if my baby likes it, he hasn't yet shown preference to any one of his books but I do! I enjoy reading it to him, it has a good flow and sweet message and the pictures are what I was looking for: dreamy, dark, interesting and unique.
I really like this rhyming book but it doesn't keep my toddler entertained as much as I had hoped as it's not interactive. Maybe when she's a bit older..?
