First of all, I will say that this map does have good, heavy duty lamination. But that's the only good thing I can say. I wish I'd read the reviews before I purchased this. It looks like something someone did at home: it's pieces of a map cut apart and laminated (for easy folding, I guess), the western part of the state has been cut off and placed below the rest of the state (to make a square map instead of a rectangle), and the edges of the lamination haven't been cut evenly. This map is probably fine for someone who needs something easy to use in the car, but I'd planned on using this in my homeschool to teach my child about our state. I'm going to have to cut it apart and put it back together myself so my son can actually see what the state looks like.
I really thought that this was a joke at first, the map is terrible, it looks like cut up pieces that have been laminated together, with decent sized gaps in between. The map also is split up into sections of the state on front and back side of the map, meaning you never get a full state view. I will be returning this map, and would never recommend anyone to purchase this "map".
I was expecting them to be a larger scale, depending on the state, one inch on the map is 15 to 18 miles. Might be even smaller scale for some of the larger states. Still, these work well as long as you are traveling on major roads. Great for road trips, and then switching to GPS when you are close to your destination.
It was laminated so I thought it would be great for my run across NC (Virginia line to SC line over 4 days). We got rained on 2 days out of the 4. The map got wet and fell apart. So I had to throw it away.
This map is actually pretty great. It's hard to get excited about a map, but this will work well. It folds easily and is quality laminate. It's been in my book bag for several weeks now and not so much as a crease. It is not as detailed as some maps but it shows all the main roads and highways. When the GPS isn't working, or I don't have cell service, this is good insurance that I won't get lost.

Map is good if a person wants to learn more about a state to travel in. Maps are good on a device, but there is nothing like opening a map and looking at the whole state and on the back are some cities. worth the money. sturdy and folds back up easily.
Half of NC is on one side of the map and the other half is on the back. This makes it a little difficult to use for home educating as I had planned on doing. The laminating is thick and it does fold easily. I just wish all of NC was visible on one side of the map.
