This book kicks off with two completely opposite women meeting on a plane shortly before takeoff. Cynthia is a spoiled rich woman used to getting her way. Adrienne is a struggling fashion designer who has just had to give up her store in Manhattan and is not looking forward to going back home to Milwaukee and her know-it-all Aunt Margaret. Cynthia talks Adrienne into switching seats with her on the plane. Almost immediately after takeoff, Adrienne realizes something isn't right. The next thing she knows, she's waking up in the hospital and everyone is calling her Cynthia, but that doesn't feel right. But then again, she can't remember who she is, so maybe Cynthia is her name after all. Suddenly "Cynthia" is face to face with her fiance Will. She knows something is wrong in her relationship with Will, but she can't put her finger on the problem. At least she can't until she answers the phone at the apartment she and Will share only to be told the man on the other end of the line is her lover Nigel. "Cynthia" is so confused & mortified to realize that she's been cheating on Will. Just the night before, she and Will had agreed to try to work their problems out. "Cynthia" is also struggling with her career because she just isn't interested in the advertising business she owns part of, she's more interested in fashion. Will Adrienne ever regain her memory? What will happen when Will realizes this "Cynthia" that he's fallen in love with is not his fiancee, but an imposter? Will Adrienne loose the only man she has ever loved?
Wow! This was a beautifully written love story, with a great plot, and some shocking twist along the way!Cynthia wakes up in the hospital after a plane crash. She has had several surgeries including plastic surgery. She also has amnesia. When she wakes up, her fiance Will is there, along with her family. She doesn't know any of them. Once she is released from the hospital, she doesn't remember what she likes or dislikes. It was exciting to see Cynthia, and Will trying new things, and her appreciating and enjoying all the little things in life. Before the plane crash Will was going to break up with Cynthia because she was cheating on him. He won't leave her now, but he struggles to trust the new Cynthia again. He doesn't want to give his heart away again, but slowly day by day he falls in love with Cynthia.This is an exciting Romance with powerful emotions, and suspense. I'm so thankful I took the time to read this book!
The author crafted this story expertly. Amnesia is a often used story vehicle, but rarely so deftly done. The typical key elements of a amnesiac storyline were handled differently here. Only the reader knows the amnesiac's real identity as the story begins; this was refreshing.The building of a relationship between the two main characters was so nicely done and very enjoyable. I could see the scenes playing so clearly in my mind. Hint: this would make a great Lifetime movie!
This book, the author's first, draws its readers in from the very first page, and as the dramatic climax approaches, it is nearly impossible to put down. Even though the mystery of the heroine's identity reveals itself to the reader pretty quickly, the other characters' delayed discovery creates suspense as the reader wonders how and when the truth will be revealed. When that moment finally comes, their reactions are stunning and even heartbreaking, and I was reduced to tears. Most touching is the slow, gentle romance that brings Cynthia and Will back together after a rough past that she is unable to remember. Heat smolders between them as he allows himself to fall in love with the new, improved version of his fiance and consider a future with her. The book is a roller coaster of emotions, but it's well worth the ride. Buy this book!
I like this book, it is exciting and had unexpected things going on all through it. An impossible book to put down. I recommend it to all who want a good interesting read.
The story felt contrived! It was difficult to form any emotional attachment to the characters. The bond between the characters never manifested. I kept waiting to care and I never did!!!
This was a really good read. The story was well written and believable. I was extremely surprised by the twist and turns. I love a book with a epilogue. GREAT BOOK, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
