I put 4 stars for those suspicious of 5 stars but would give 6 if I could. Rather than get into the condition like her most watch Utube video on Dyslexia, this book is a practical guide to taking action. It could save a parent and a child from the shared nightmare of confusion and despair so many families like mine have experienced. While parents need to focus on navigating the ill - equipped and less than helpful school system, dyslexia in school remains problematic and our most vulnerable do not get the "free and appropriate education". Even with the programs offered by law if you advocate, school remains a predicament for parents and Dyslexic thinkers. I can't wait to hear more from Kelley she brings honesty to a dilemma dominate by distress and deception.

This book has a wealth of information for someone who is just starting the process of having a child tested for dyslexia. My book is full of tabs, underlines, sticky notes of things I need to do as a parent. I can't tell you the amount of times I said that's my son or how could I have missed this connection to dyslexia when he was in _ grade. As I followed making my binder, my letter to the school really came together because I was reminded of all the struggles my child has been through since elementary school now that we finally put 2 and 2 together in 8th grade.

Love this book! It is wonderful. I wish I had it 4 years ago when I started fighting our school to recognize our daughter as dyslexic. It took until 4th grade, and an outside evaluation to get her diagnosed. I really wish I had known that I could have requested an IEP because I never agreed with the school's diagnosis and I always knew my dyslexia was the only diagnosis that put ALL the pieces together. I recommend this book to everyone I run across who has a child with a suspected LD!

I recently attended a conference where Dr. Kelli Sandman Hurley spoke along with her colleagues Tracy Block-Zaretsky, and, Linguist, Gina Cooke.We received a Dyslexia diagnosis for our young child and, as a mom, I found myself struggling to understand not only her diagnosis but how to get her the services she needed both within the public school system and tutoring outside of the school.Dr. Sandman-Hurley's book is one of encouragement...the path can seem bleak and lonely as we've attempted to navigate educating our school regarding Dyslexia. My entire perspective changed because of this conference that these women developed. Dyslexic kids need hope, support, and someone in their corner cheering them on...even when their teacher or others see them as less than, even lazy.Dr. Sandman-Hurley shares her insight into morphemes, graphemes, and other types of language that influence reading within the pages of this book. Gina Cooke spoke at the conference regarding understanding the meaning behind each word within the written language. Do you know why there is a in sign? When a dyslexic child experiences success...the confidence that brims is beautiful.There are many books and people 'claiming' to be beacons within the Dyslexia community. These ladies are the hands and feet working tirelessly on behalf of children everywhere struggling. Dr. Sandman-Hurley and her colleagues are paving the way for change and understanding. This book was just the crash course that we needed leading up to our child's IEP meeting. Dyslexia is a field fraught with confusion and misconceptions. Kelli's Sandman-Hurley's book provides much needed guidance for parents (and advocates) to better understand dyslexia and begin the process of educating those in your child's school. I particularly appreciated her granular insights into how morphemes, graphemes, and other subtleties of language that influence reading, as well as her template goals and reference to salient legal documents in easy and accessible terms.

My son is a bit too young right now to understand what’s in the book. But it will be there when he is. I’ve read it personally, and couldn’t be more happy with the writing, topics, and overall structure for conveying the history, culture and beauty of the Philippines.I have several Filipino history books, which are appropriate for adults. I bought them while staying on the islands.I have been married to a Filipino for almost three years now, and I’ve been to the Philippines on four separate occasions. My stay would probably total close to 100 days. I love history and culture. My wife and I have been to many of the museums, art galleries, several history tours around the Manila area and a couple trips to other places on the island and to other islands.What a well done book.

I am first generation American and both my parents are from the Philippines. I Love that I found this book for my son. He is half Filipino and half American. I want to make sure he learns about his Filipino side and this book is great teaching the basics. This has also helped my two American step-daughters learn and understand about the Filipino culture they are surrounded by when they come over to my parent's house.

What a superb introduction to the Philippines for children! Gidget Jimenez does a remarkable job of explaining the diversity of this multi-island nation using three cousins who describe differences and similarities in their daily lives, favorite foods, culture and religions. She synthesizes pertinent history, geography, environmental and cultural issues in a nuanced, but very kid friendly way. Filippino words, games and recipes are sprinkled throughout. This would be easy reading for grade school kids, but parents, grandparents and teachers could read this appealing book to younger kids and they would gain so much. I will wager many adults will learn quite a bit, as I did. Corazon Dandan-Albano's illustrations welcome the reader into the text, with a whimsical appealing charm. This book belongs in schools and libraries everywhere.

My daughter is doing a report on The Philippines and so ordered this book. It's very nice, not just boring "history" but draws the child in so they can imagine what it would be like to live in The Philippines and is interesting for them (and me too)! Good for all ages, up to 7th or 8th grade. Even has recipes that we are going to try!

Purchased this for my 6 years old daughter to give to her best friend for Christmas. She doesn’t know that I purchased one for her too. Can’t wait to read it with her!

I am incredibly disappointed in this product. Firstly, who ever edited this book did not realize that they had the same exact song in here twice. Secondly, they should say that this book is with simplified accompaniments that include the melody in the piano line. Towards the end they stopped separating the vocals and the piano all together. I was expecting full accompaniments. As a musician, I am ashamed to say that I bought this.

Great to have the music! Great arrangements and very cool to be able to play some Billy Joel classics!

Not sure if Billy had a hand in the song selection, but it was obviously intended to accompany the co-released greatest hits album(s), containing some songs that just aren't up to scratch in comparison with others it left out.SCENES FROM A ITALIAN RESTAURANT is missing.I need make no more points.

It took awhile and kinda made me nervous but the seller asked me to be patient showed up to days after it was expected but it's in great shape for being a used music book and actually it gave me enough time to learn the basics of piano lessons and the songs because I bought the CD so I'm happy

Bought this book for my Mom who plays piano and always wants me to sing along. It would really be better if these publications were in the black spiral binding so that they stay on the right page better. Most of the songs require a lot of page flipping too but that's pretty standard. Great music.

One of my favorites. If you like Billy's music and can play moderately well, this is for you.
